Department at a glance:

Department of Pathobiology began its academic activities in 2007 as an individual department under the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The Department is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge in veterinary infectious disease and immunology, veterinary parasitology and comparative pathology. The Department is responsible for teaching, research, and extension programs concerned with disease processes that affect animals and human beings. These include toxic, infectious, metabolic and neoplastic diseases of farm animals, pets, poultry, wildlife and zoonotic diseases.

The Department has five divisions:

  • Microbiology and Immunology
  • Mycology
  • Parasitology
  • Pathology
  • Biotechnology


Educational and research activities are done in the laboratories of Bacteriology, Immunology and Serology, Virology, Mycology, Cell Culture, Parasitology, and Pathology. A Necropsy Room for educational and research purposes is also available.
